Our Story

The community of hope agriculture project CHAP is a national entity working in urban and rural communities in Liberia. CHAP was founded by Apostle James M. Bimba in August, 2008, in keeping with scriptures Gen. 8:22) and as a result of the multitudes of human needs, particularly hunger, and the desire to focus on meeting these felt needs through entrepreneur and capacity development of target audiences in order to create an enabling environment to drive their own development agenda. CHAP is championing and leading the system of rice intensification (SRI). The SRI is an agro-ecological and climate smart production technique that helps to increase the productivity of rice and other crops. CHAP also has a business component and a champion in the area of quality seed, diary farm, vegetables, advisory and farm machinery rental services etc. National executing entity for RICOWAS in Liberia Hosted World leaders such as H.E Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and was honor in 2011 by GOL in state of national address (SONA), Formal IFAD president, Formal US Ambassador Linda Greenfield Thomas, vice president Jewel Howard Taylor, Dr. Styger SRI-RICE and Dr. Traore of CNS – RiZ Mali, formal Minister of Agriculture Dr. Chenoweth and Dr. Zinnah.

FARMERS TRAINING

CHAP offers comprehensive farmers training programs, equipping individuals with essential agricultural knowledge and skills to enhance productivity and sustainability on their farms.

FRAMERS ADVISORY SERVICES

Through personalized advisory services, CHAP provides farmers with expert guidance and support, helping them navigate challenges, optimize resources, and make informed decisions for successful farming ventures.

BUILDING CAPACITY OF FARMERS

CHAP is committed to building the capacity of farmers through continuous education, skill development, and access to resources, empowering them to become self-reliant and resilient agricultural entrepreneurs.

SUSTAINABLE FARMING

CHAP promotes sustainable farming practices that prioritize environmental conservation, resource efficiency, and long-term viability, ensuring a harmonious balance between agricultural production and ecological stewardship.

SUPPORTING SMALL HOLDER FARMERS

Recognizing the vital role of smallholder farmers in national food security, CHAP extends tailored support services, including access to finance, technology, and markets, to help them thrive and prosper.

FRAMERS VISIT EXCHANGE PROGRAM

CHAP facilitates farmers’ exchange programs, fostering knowledge-sharing and collaboration among agricultural communities, promoting cross-cultural learning, and fostering innovation.

FIGHTING HUNGER FOR SUSTAINABLE.

CHAP is dedicated to combating hunger through sustainable agricultural practices, advocating for food security policies, and implementing initiatives that address the root causes of hunger for long-term sustainability.

WORKING WITH NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS

CHAP collaborates closely with national and international partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and agricultural organizations, to leverage collective expertise, resources, and networks in advancing agricultural development and food security agendas.

Dear Members and Supporters of the Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP),

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you. As the the Board Chairman of CHAP Liberia, I am deeply honored to serve alongside a dedicated team committed to our noble mission of empowering communities through agriculture, nutrition, and Food  education for sustainable peace and development.At CHAP, our journey is driven by a profound belief in the transformative power of community-led initiatives. Together, we have embarked on a mission to harness the rich potential of Liberia’s agricultural landscape, fostering resilience and prosperity in both rural and urban settings.
